Paper

they say that paper flies in slightest breath,
and bends and folds and tears with too much ease.
it's thin and has no substance, has no depth;
it makes disturbing noises that displease.

though i say paper has its good points too,
as every origamist's sure to say.
it helps me to communicate with you;
it aids me in much more than just one way.

is marriage thus far only frail and thin?
well i say no, you've saved me from such wrong.
we've written just a little bit, but then
we've also written on a substance strong.

tröste mich wieder mit deiner hilfe,
und der freudige herz erhalte mich.
